2023 Self-Advocate Challenge
Are you a recent high school graduate or a student ages 14-21 who experiences an intellectual and/or developmental disability and are in the process of planning to transition into NJ's adult disability service world?
We want to hear from you!
Send us a video recording of you sharing your transitioning into the adult world tips!
Need support? Ask a friend, family member or school staff person to help you submit your recording.
Why Participate?
Your peers need to hear from you! Other students (and even professionals) want and need transition information tips. Who better to learn from than someone like you who already has or is in the transition into adulthood process?
How to Participate:
1. Using a smart phone, record your name, your age, the name of your school, and your personal transition tip. Please do not include specific recommendations to join a particular service or provider. Keep your Transition Tip general information that anyone can apply to their life!
2. Email your recording to njyouthtransition@gmail.com with the subject line "Self-Advocate Challenge Submission" by May 31st, 2023.
3. Download, print, sign, scan, and email the completed Video Release Form to njyouthtransition@gmail.com along with your recording. (If you are not your own legal guardian, you will need your legal guardian's signature on the form.)
Challenge Details:
The first 25 completed entries will win a $25 Visa gift card mailed to your home!
Your entry will be shared with your peers, on our social media networks, website, email campaigns and during our 2023 NJ Youth Transition Conference.
Submissions & completed Video Release Forms are due May 31st, 2023. Any submissions received after the due date are not eligible to receive the $25 Visa Gift Card.
**$25 Visa Gift Cards will be mailed to the address you provided on the Video Release Form on June 30th, 2023.**
